Volunteers in a Two College Town

As you all know, we live in a town with two colleges. This is such a blessing for our shelter. Not only do we benefit from having a steady flow of dog walkers, cat cuddlers, and volunteers, but we also get to organize projects on the college’s serve days. This month, we were able to accomplish two major projects in two Saturdays.

Our first project, was the removal of clutter from a back room at our shelter. We had a great group of guys from OBU who worked very hard and as a result, we now have a new area to expand our shelter. We were so glad to have them for the day.

Our second project this month, was the removal of the old drop ceiling in the shelter. Gamma Beta Phi came from HSU and did an amazing job. They even walked dogs and cleaned kennels after they finished. These guys and girls did great work.

We are so excited to have so many students who are willing and able to help us with these improvements. Few people realize how much is being contributed by these young people on a daily basis. Even walking a dog or petting a cat is helping us to socialize these animals and make them adoptable. We are so fortunate to live in this town and have a wealth of students who are interested in our shelter and truly care about animals.
