Out Of State Rescues

Since May of this year, HSCC has sent more that 150 dogs and cats to accredited out of state rescues where these animals found loving homes. This is a process full of preparation, planning, paper work, and a lot of other “p” words I cannot think of at the moment. These rescues are providing a wonderful outlet for the mass overpopulation of animals we struggle with in South West Arkansas. We are not a large shelter, we don’t have a full staff of people, we do not receive guaranteed monthly income, and we are one of the only no-kill shelters in our area. On top of that, we are also one of the only places around that offers rescue for cats and kittens. We do not have the staff or the financial means to house and care for the excessive number of animals that need our help. So far this year, we have taken in around 200 dogs and 250 cats and our in-house numbers are still staying within a manageable range. Without the help of rescue groups, we would have been forced to turn away more that 150 animals this year. Here are some of the happy faces of people who adopted our animals through an out of state rescue organization.
